 Cemetery vs Graveyard. Graveyard is the older of the two terms and refers to a burial ground that adjoins a church. As for Cemetery such as Le Repos Saint-François d'Assise, it refers to a resting place that does not adjoin a church.

 According to Wikipedia "the term graveyard is often used interchangeably with cemetery but, a graveyard primarily refers to a burial ground within a churchyard".
